FDP on ‘Transforming Teaching and Research’

Research and Development Cell of Asian Business School hosted a 5 Days Faculty Development Program on ‘ Transforming Teaching and Research’ from 19th -23rd June, 2023 organized by IQAC. FDP started with the gracious presence of Dr. Shweta Batra, Dean Asian Business School, and she described explicitly the necessity of transforming teaching and research and Dr. Swati Bhatia, Convener R&D cell, welcomed all the participants. Dr. Maroof Ahmad Mir, Associate Professor, Asian Business School, and Mr. Abhay Jain, Assistant Professor at IBMR Group of Institutions, Gurgaon were the resource persons of this FDP.

This FDP focused on various aspects related to teaching and research and were discussed in detail by eminent educationists and a very beneficial academic environment was experienced by the participants. FDP was attended by academicians and they actively participated in all sessions and were given hands-on experience in preparing COs of their respective courses. The Faculty Development Program has covered the following contents with hands-on experience.

On Day 1, our eminent speaker Dr. Maroof Ahmad Mir discussed the need for outcome-based education, its relevance, and its relationship to the institution’s vision and mission. In addition, he discussed the applicability of Bloom’s Taxonomy and the primary distinctions between PEOs, POs, and COs. In addition, he enlightened the faculty on the design and mapping of PEOs, POs, and COs. Each faculty member was given an assignment at the conclusion of the session. The topic of the second day’s session was Direct and indirect tools for computing the achievement of COs, POs, and PSOs, Pedagogical tools for effective lecture delivery, designing outcome-based curriculum, and course syllabus. On the third day, topics such as creating a question bank based on course outcomes, devising a blueprint for course outcomes based on outcome-based education, and self-assessment activities for lecture evaluation were discussed.

Mr. Abhay Jain, who is presently an Assistant Professor at IBMR Group of Institutions, Gurgaon, led the session on the fourth day as an external speaker of eminence. He discussed a variety of research-related topics, including Problem Identification, Research Paper Title, How to Use Google Scholar for Keyword Search, Designing of Research Framework Based on Theory, Developing Hypotheses, and Sampling Techniques. Mr. Abhay Jain also led a session on the fifth day concerning the determination of sample size, measurement and scaling, questionnaires, in-text citations, referencing styles, and the identification of false and predatory journals.
