How a good PGDM program at a top b-school brings the industry to the classroom?

Today education cannot be restricted to theoretical classroom teachings only. For a highly skilled professional management program like PGDM, its exceedingly important and critical to maintain a high standard classroom delivery with lots of researches, projects, on-job trainings, industry interface, symposiums, and business competitions etc. with active involvement of industry to make students skilled to meet industry expectations.

To do so, Asian Business School (ABS) has a well-structured and exceedingly monitored “Campus to Corporate Connect Program”. As a top b-school, ABS works to strengthen the ABS brand in the corporate world to bring industry in the classroom.

Few major initiatives such as Leadership & Entrepreneurship Aspiration Development Program (LEAD)a much focused program for inculcating entrepreneurial mind-set and leadership skills among the ABS PGDM students. Industry professional and entrepreneurs with high intellect visit the campus for one-o-one interactions, training and guiding students with required information and skills. In the recent past some of the prominent professional who visited ABS campus under LEAD programs are, Ms. Ritu Gupta, Director – Marketing Dell India, Mr. Ashwani Lohani, Managing Director & Chairman Air India Ltd., Dr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director & CEO – Asia Pacific Resource Centre, United Nations Global Compact Network India, Mr. V. Krishnan, Co-Founder & Director Just Dial Ltd., Mr. Pradeep Chopra, Founder Digital Vidya, Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director & CEO Polaris India Ltd. to name a few.

Here is what Alex Joseph, Founder, Shellpro Packaging Solutions (PGDM 2014-16) wants to say about his entrepreneurial journey and contribution of Asian Business School.

I am glad to be a part of ABS, I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and my institution actually helped me taking my dream ahead by offering all required support, training & an ecosystem with industry professional & entrepreneurs for their continuous guidance.

Industry Mentorship Program for PGDM students at ABS is an another important feature to bring industry to the classroom. This program continuously associates a student with an industry professional for continuous guidance, personal and professional skills development, and developing a correct and positive attitude towards their career after PGDM. Industry professionals thus engaged spend their good time in classrooms while teaching ABS PGDM students about latest technology and updates in the industry. This helps our management students build their profiles and claim a good placement at the course completion.

Asian Business School has strong corporate college synergies at all the levels. Initiatives like Distinguished Lecture Series, Corporate Visits, projects, business competitions, corporate quizzes are in integral part of ABS PGDM curriculum to build a strong ecosystem for the overall development of our management students, with active involvement of industry professionals. It’s a process of transforming an individual from a naive to a promising management professional. As this is one common ground where the corporate and college join hands to mould the soft clay, the craftsmen have to be very diligent and creative.

We at ABS pay special focus on the college corporate synergies so that the students are abreast of the developments in the industry. The management college scenario is very different from the way a commerce or an engineering college would function. The learning horizon of the students is bigger and can be stretched as per the students’ capabilities. More is the management student abreast of the industry’s best practice, the better it is for his career in management. Moreover, it is not just the best practice; hearing from the horse’s mouth, the impact on the students is deeper.
