Faculty Development Program@Asian Education Group

Asian Education Group organized “Faculty Development Program” on “Goods and Services Tax” on 22-10-2016. The Research and Development Cell of AEG hosted the first Faculty Development Program. The current burning issue regarding the GST was consciously chosen with the view to give insight to the academia on its benefits as well as shortcomings.

The Resource Person for this FDP was Shri Arvind Kumar, Deputy Secretary posted in the Ministry of Heavy Industries. He has been involved very actively in framing the entire draft to Government of India for GST. He is on the Board of Directors of many Public Sector Enterprises like BPCL, NEPA paper Mills, Richardson and Cruddas ltd., Hindustan Salts etc. This new tax regime envisages subsuming multiple levies into a Single Integrated Tax right from manufacturer/supplier to consumer. It will not only attract large amount of FDI but also facilitate the higher growth of GDP in the country. More than 150 countries are already following the GST.

On this august occasion, Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director, Asian Education Group welcomed Shri Arvind Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Govt of India and Prof(Dr) RK Wadhwa, Director Global Business Consultants. Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director, Asian Education Group gave the Inaugural address. This was followed by the session by Shri Arvind Kumar on “Goods and Services Tax.” The session was very enlightening as it was value addition for the in house faculty and the distinguished delegates as FDP included relevant cases for better understanding of the GST structure.

This thought provoking session was followed by Q&A session. Academia shared its perspective with the learned speaker. This was followed by Valedictory Session and the Vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Ravee Sharma, HOD, CRC, Asian Education Group.
