Young learners are the best messengers to spread the awareness of the social and global issues and their voice do leave an impact on ones’ mind. To bring out the creativity and to spread the message “JOY OF GIVING -We CARE”, a visit to NGO –Goonj was organized for ABS students on 29th November, 2024 in which students participated wholeheartedly with great enthusiasm. The collection drive was started from 4th Nov to 12th Nov, 2024 in the campus and all students, faculties and staff participated in donation drive. We received bulk donation items and enthusiastic participation from all students, staff and faculty members by donating items such as Clothes (Reusable good Quality clothes), Blankets/Quilts and bed sheets, Stationery supplies/Books/Toys/Board Games/water bottles, Bags and Uniforms, Footwear’s and E waste items.
It is imperative to start sensitizing the youth towards the social needs and help them become more responsible and empathetic citizens. Keeping this theme in mind, a visit was organized to Goonj’s processing unit in Sarita Vihar. It was a first experience for them to witness the process of effective utilization of the so-called waste. It was inspiring experience for them to see the segregation units and the way each piece of the products is being used till its last use and made into a valuable commodity that is consumed as a resource by the needy. Students visited different cells/work centers in GOONJ where employees work so hard to make stuff reusable in systematic and organized manner. The visit sensitized the students and enabled them to sympathize with those who do not receive the requisite help and support. The students also realized that this was not charity but an opportunity to become responsible citizens and good human beings. Overall, the visit and collection of donation served as a platform to make students sensitive towards various social issues.
