Noida, 15th August 2020: Asian Business School – which is a part of Asian Education Group and is ranked as one of the best B-schools in Delhi NCR – inaugurated its new batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) on Tuesday, 11th August 2020. The inauguration kick-started a grand three-day Orientation Programme scheduled from Tuesday, 11th August 2020 to Friday, 14th August 2020. However, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and keeping in mind the social distancing norms, this programme was organized virtually to benefit the students who were about to begin a new phase in their academic life.
The illustrious guests for the ceremony included Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General & CEO, IICA widely acclaimed as the ‘Father of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ in our country; renowned Indian author, activist and professional speaker, Mr Shiv Khera of the International Best Seller book ‘You Can Win’ fame; boAt Co-Founder & CMO, Mr Aman Gupta; Mr Peyush Bansal, Lenskart Founder & CEO; and Mr René Deceuninck, CEO & Founder at IPB Ltd & The Oxford Institute of Body Language, Oxford UK who graced the event with their powerful and inspiring presence.
The programme was presided over by ABS’s management including Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, Asian Education Group (AEG); Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG); Mr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG); and Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) who hosted the event on behalf of the institute.
In his welcome address, Mr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) spoke about how during this challenging time of the COVID-19 crisis, Asian Business School chose to fight back and face the pandemic with a positive frame of mind and did not let it hamper any of its academic activity right from day one of the crisis. He then welcomed all the new batch of ABS PGDM students and said, “Although it is said that education never ends, but these two years are official final years of your academic journey and I extend our heartiest congratulations to each one of you by way of this virtual ceremony for becoming a part of this leading PGDM college of Delhi NCR.”
In his inaugural address, Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) heartily welcomed all the new batch of PGDM 2020 students to the “dynamic community called Asian Business School or ABS” and told the students to “have trust in yourself and this institution; own yourself and take up the responsibility of transforming yourself into a true professional by determined self-effort.”
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, Asian Education Group (AEG) began his speech with an invocation prayer to Lord Ganesh on behalf of all the new batch students that said, “Hey Lord, I’m showering flowers on Your Feet and looking for more capacity and capability to complete this new job I’m starting today. Hey Lord, I pray to Thee that I should be able to complete this job comfortably without any hindrances and obstacles. I need new energy from You!” He then welcomed all the new students on board of Asian Business School and enlivened the ambience with his inspiring speech laced with some stirring Hindi couplets and motivated the students by stating that “two things were much more beautiful than what you can see with your naked eyes – your THINKING and your FEELINGS … and the best part is that both the things are there right within you!”
This was followed by the chief guest address by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General & CEO, IICA. Delivering his address from virtual platform, Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee congratulated the students for joining Asian Business School which was a part of a great institutional effort and asked the students to utilize this opportunity to the best of their abilities. He especially talked about the “trust and faith that parents have placed on you” and asked the students to “find a space and build a rewarding career through self-fulfilment and work your way up the ladder of success.” He further stated that, “In a way you are also blessed to be enrolling yourself for this management course in the SHADOW of the pandemic because when you emerge in the SUNSHINE in the post-COVID era, you will find yourself better equipped to take up the challenges of the new corporate world.”
Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) then addressed the august gathering and spoke about how the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the education sector in a big way, but there’s also a bright side to the coronavirus outbreak whereby technology today has given wings to education and has led to the fast transition from traditional education to online education. So, he asked the students to “gear up for the trends & innovation in the virtual education world as online education is going to be the flavour of this season.”
The lively morning session of the “INAUGURAL CEREMONY” held on Tuesday, 11th August 2020 concluded with the customary ‘Vote of Thanks’ delivered by Dr. Anubhuti Dwivedi, Dean, Asian Business School.
The august gathering then dispersed for lunch.
The post-lunch session saw the star attraction of the event – renowned Indian author, activist and professional speaker, Mr. Shiv Khera of the International Best Seller book “YOU CAN WIN” fame – take centrestage of the function and deliver an absolutely overwhelming Live Interactive WEBINAR on ‘Building a Lasting CAN DO Attitude’!
Day 2 of the ABS PGDM Orientation Program 2020 held on Thursday, 13th August 2020 constituted of “CAMPUS CONNECT” initiative & “YAEC Finale”. As part of “Campus Connect” initiative, students were allowed to have an interactive and insightful session with Director AEG and ABS faculty members and collect the nuggets of their invaluable wisdom and learning. The day also marked the grand finale of “Young Asian Entrepreneurial Challenge (YAEC) 2020” – essentially a Business Plan Competition – wherein Mr. Aman Gupta, Co-Founder & CMO, boAt was the ‘Guest of Honour’ who not only presented an exciting account of ‘The Journey of boAt’ and shared some priceless insights to becoming a successful entrepreneur, but also declared the winner for YAEC 2020.
Day 3 of the ABS PGDM Orientation Program 2020 held on Friday, 14th August 2020 was earmarked for “CORPORATE INTERFACE” and it witnessed two powerful Live WEBINAR sessions – one by Mr. Peyush Bansal, Lenskart Founder & CEO on the topic ‘The Lenskart Journey’ and the second by Mr. René Deceuninck, CEO & Founder at IPB Ltd & The Oxford Institute of Body Language, Oxford, UK on a very interesting topic ‘Importance of Body Language in Career Growth’.
With this, this one-of-its-kind virtual ‘Orientation Day’ ceremony for AEG Asian Business School’s 10th batch of PGDM students came to a dignified end.
