    Industrial Visit to Yakult Danone India Private Limited

    An industrial visit, at Yakult Danone India Private Limited, was organized for the students of PGDM I sem section ‘D’ and Section B on 18th Aug’2025. The objectives of the visit were to give students first had exposure to the manufacturing process of an organization, understand the various stages involved during the manufacturing, how a plant layout looks like and the operational strategies used for quality output. Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. is a 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) between Yakult Honsha in Japan and Groupe Danone in France, both of which are global probiotic leaders. Yakult is a leading player in probiotic milk product with robust quality measures, Yakult is being distributed by grocery stores, e-commerce, and Yakult Ladies. Yakult Ladies are women of all ages, who drive scooters and deliver Yakult to house customers. There are more than 300 Yakult Ladies in Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai and Pune. Ms. Mehak Garg, Executive – AQ, Science & PR, was kind enough the brief the students about the company’s history, the founder, how Yakult was born, quality, and sustainability. As a pioneer in probiotics, Yakult has formidable research capabilities and technological advances in the field of probiotics. It is backed by more than 85 years of research, and more than 100 human studies have been conducted in the world including India, on Yakult’s probiotic bacteria, L.casei Shirota (SHIROTA strain). The studies have indicated that regular consumption of Yakult helps improve digestion and helps build immunity. The students learnt about the different stages of Yakult production and places where they sell. ABS Student “Deepa Gupta” won the lucky winner prize for being the 300,000 visitor at Yakult as was felicitated with a gift kit. Manufacturing Process: Students were taken through the entire manufacturing process right from the raw material stage, seeding stage – to – fermentation stage – testing stage – processing stage- to the finished goods stage and the final packaging. Students were briefed on the best quality of raw material used by the company, the advanced technology used for superior quality production and the quality checks used for ensuring right product. Overall the industrial visit for the students was a good learning experience and highly enriching in terms of first hand understanding of how a manufacturing unit works, how various stages of the manufacturing processes are interconnected so as to roll out quality product and how the integration of advance technology in production leads to quality.
