Asian Business School (ABS) organized its 8th National Seminar on the theme “NEP 2020: Transforming Vision into Action” on Thursday, 30th September 2021 at 11 AM at its Noida campus. The event was coordinated by the Research & Development Cell of ABS and it was organized for Faculties, both Internal & External. However, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and keeping in mind the social distancing norms, this seminar was conducted via online medium through the Zoom platform.
The new National Education Policy-2020 (NEP) envisions India regaining the coveted position of global dominance. It enables higher education institutions to develop a system that directly contributes to the country’s transformation into a global knowledge superpower. To enlighten and explore the sphere of NEP 2020, Asian Business School organized this 8th National Seminar on “NEP 2020: Transforming Vision into Action” on Thursday, 30th September 2021 at 11 AM.
The seminar was devoted to reflecting the ground realities and a collective consensus on addressing how NEP 2020 will prove to be a pivotal point in terms of meeting the country’s inclusive development goals while also establishing a robust community. It brought into light a shift toward multi-disciplinary education, away from rigid silos of “arts,” “science,” and “commerce” streams, with a renewed focus on 21st-century skills for holistic, critical, discovery, discussion and analysis-based learning.
The seminar commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the welcome introduction of dignitaries present on and off the dais. In the Inaugural Ceremony, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mohd Abdul Moid, Asst. Professor & Convener-Asian Business School (ABS) and the Inaugural address by Dr. Maroof Ahmad Mir, Dean-Asian School of Business (ASB). This was fostered by the wise words of Mr. Arun Maira, Chief Guest – Management Consultant, Former Member, Planning Commission of India and Mr. Aseem Kumar, Guest of Honor – Head Asia Pacific Resource Centre (APRC), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). They shared different perspectives about Holistic personality development through competency-based education, focusing on the importance of System Thinking, Deep Listening, Learn to Unlearn, Ethics and Human Values.
The Special Session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on National Education Policy (NEP). The welcome address in the Special Session was delivered by Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director, Asian Business School (ABS). The seminar marked its culmination by Vote of Thanks by Mr. Ravi Sharma, Dean- Corporate Resource Cell (CRC), Asian Business School (ABS).
The NEP 2020 has been embraced by the masses in recent times and attracted a wide learned audience to the seminar. NEP 2020 strives for an inclusive and equitable educational system and introduces broad-based, multi-disciplinary, holistic education at the higher education level through flexible curricula, creative subject combinations, integration of vocational education, and multiple entry and exit points with appropriate certification.
The seminar was fostered by the wise words by the eminent speakers in Panel I moderated by Dr. Veenu Arora, Associate Professor, Asian Business School (ABS). The theme of the Panel I was “Invigorate Strategic Learning by Instilling Creativity, Entrepreneurship & Optimal Allocation of Educational Resources for Equity and Equality”. Dr. Thomas George, Chairman, LEAD School of Management; Rimy Oberoi, Chief Learning Officer, OYESTER Connect, suggested ways and ideas on how NEP 2020 can be put to use in today’s scenario, to instill entrepreneurial spirit to foster a start up ecosystem and encourage local people to engage in Atma Nirbhar Bharat through promoting traditional knowledge. This was followed by the felicitation ceremony of the guests.
The program was further nurtured with the Panel II in the second half, moderated by Dr. Swati Bhatia, Asst. Professor & RDC Convener, Asian Business School (ABS). The theme of the session was “A Friendly Learning Environment and Engaged Faculty”.
The Eminent Panelists Dr. Runa Mitra, People Talent International Founder and Director and SHRM India advisor and Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Founder President, Studyhall Educational Foundation endorsed the session with their wise words establishing a correlation between dynamic and self adaptive Curriculum for striking a better balance between teaching pedagogy and assessment while discussing the implementation challenges of the NEP 2020. The session ended with the memento presentation and vote of thanks.
The audience accumulated the wise words and appreciated the constructive platform that the seminar provided them for NEP 2020 while expressing the gratitude and further association with the institution.
