ORIENTATION DAY 1
It is a tradition at Asian Business School to welcome new batches of PGDM students in a big way. It has been no different with the earlier batches as well. The orientation programme of PGDM Batch 2014- 2016 commenced on 14th the presence of dignitaries from the industry, our President Prof. Sandeep Marwah and other guests enlightened the audience with their motivational talks and welcomed the new beginners.
July 2014, and continued for next five days. The day 1 was marked by The inaugural ceremony started with an inspirational delivery by Prof. Sandeep Marwah who always charges up the audience through his Charisma & Aura.
Very eminent leaders from the industry honored the dice and gave valuable inputs to the budding managers. Mr Abhik Saha, Director Benetton India Ltd, Mr Gaurav Verma, Group Business Director, IMRB International and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Upadhayay, AGM Personnel HRD, SAIL discussed strategically relevant issues facing the economy so that our students can groom themselves accordingly. The first day also marked the release of corporate interface volume2 which is a compilation of achievements of the CRC department giving details of final placements and summer internship of the students.
The second half of the day was very spiritually oriented as we had Dr. C.V.Ramanan, Prof, Spiritual Sadhak and inspirational life coach with us who very subtly and humbly reinforced the values of life and the mantras we must follow to lead a holistic life. At the end of the first day the audience was at a spiritual high and had a new vision for themselves.
ORIENTATION DAY 2
Theme was “SYNERGY 2014 – ALIGNING CORPORATE EXPECTATIONS” The day started by explaining the tradition of Asian Business School, where the emphasis was on the Value of Time and Holistic Learning. AEG President Prof. Sandeep Marwah started 2nd day with lighting of the lamp of knowledge. He addressed students and advised them to plan the future in big way ‘BIG DREAM AND BIG THINK” to sustain in Industry.
Mr. Rajiv Khurana- Founder ‘The Personnel Lab” SUGGESTED STUDENTS TO WORK UPON personal branding. He stressed upon “ be always outstanding and not standing outside.” He gave a presentation on “PERSONAL BRANDING: and advised students to create their own Brand for themselves.
Another distinguished speaker Mr. BD Nathani-Head Marketing G&D (Disney Shoes) with vast experience in Retail Industry focused on the importance of learning, passion, innovation, Modern Technology and advised them to become successful “LOVE THEMSELVES”.
Mr. Mark Runacrs with his 25 years experience in the British Diplomatic service and currently Partner – The Hearth Education Advisors; spoke on the importance of aspirations and spoke on the opportunities in India for management students.
Mr.Niranjan Khatri – GM Environment Initiatives of ITC Hotels stressed upon the water energy and advised students to learn and handle complexity in Industry. Handle them in smarter way and Reinvent the business opportunities.
Director, Asian Business School, Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava thanked all the distinguished speakers on the Dias and advised students to synergize themselves to align with corporate expectations.
In the 2nd part of the day Management Games and Business Quiz were there for students.
ORIENTATION DAY 3
Theme – CONCLAVE 2014 – “CONVENTIONING THE BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES”
The session was started with the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The finer issues of the how business is conducted and heights are achieved were discussed. The most sought after names in the industry were there to share, discuss and enlighten students with the latest and in demand management practices. AEG President Prof. Sandeep Marwah graced the occasion and addressed students.
Mr. K Bhushan Chairman of I.V. Communications Ltd. Travelled widely all over the world Stressed upon the skills development to become successful professional today. He advised students to Dream Big.
Mr. Aniruddha Bose –Director & Business Head at FinEdge Advisory Private Limited spoke on Success Mantra – “8-TO BE GREAT” – Passion, Hard Work, Talent, Service, Persistence, Focus, Push and Ideas . His presentation was innovative and enjoyed by students.
Ms. GC Sharma- Head-Financial Education, National Stock Exchange of India Limited enlighten the audience about Financial Management. He stressed upon the building of trust in the industry. He advised students to invest in people.
The next speaker Ms. Varsha Bhala – Managing HR-ABCRE – Mudra Garments (Aditya Birla Group) – from IIM Lucknow spoke on various HR issues and Training. THE NEWSPAPER (COUNTRY AND PEOPLE) WAS ALSO RELEASED BY OUR PRESIDENT PROF. SANDEEP MARWAH AND OTHER DIGNATORIES ON THE DIAS At the end of pre-lunch session was open for interaction with audience. It was a stimulating session with the dynamic nature of the corporate world. In the later half part of the day Management Games –A2Z race, Follow the leader was for the students.
ORIENTATION DAY 4
The theme for day four of the orientation programme was CONFLUENCE 2014, “Convergence of creative mind set” . The day highlighted new and unique dimensions of creativity and innovation. The panel comprised of Mr. Vikas Phogat, Head of Entry Product Line- Telco; SAFFRON MORPHO who discussed the need to think out of the box. We had Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, Director & CEO IRIS Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd. who gave a Human Resource perspective to creativity. Mr. Gaurav Mahendru consultant and free lancer conducted a very interactive session with the students on how to develop creative instincts and finally the lady of the day Ms. Sukla Mistri, DGM projects India Oil Corporation ltd. gave highly motivational tips to the students for their growth and enhancements stating live examples from her 25 years of experience.
The most important ceremony of the day was release of GIMIC 2014, conference proceedings which is a compilation of abstracts and messages received for the international conference to be held on 19th 2014. In the latter half of the day Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director ABS had an academic oriented talk with the fresh batch of students, where he discussed various aspects of their life at ABS like Discipline, Performance, Curriculum, Examinations, Code of Conduct, Internships and Placements. The academic presentation ended with faculty and staff introduction.
