Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standard aptitude test conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) that serves the purpose of admission in MBA/PGDM programs in over 600 business schools and Post Graduate Diploma in Management colleges across India.

The paper-based exam consists of 200 questions that are required to be completed in the total time duration of 150 minutes. Being one of the most prominent exams for pursuing Business Courses, it can mark your entry in many reputed management colleges including some of the Best Private Business Schools in India like Asian Business School in Delhi NCR’ s Noida.

The MAT exam is held four times a year. The test is conducted generally on the first Sunday of February, May, September, and December of each year. And, MAT weaves your path in top B schools for MBA/PGDM courses.

Age is no bar for MAT, and it also does not specifically look for any job experience.

The MAT Exam Pattern is as follows:

  • MAT is an objective-type test which consists of 200 MCQs with 40 questions from each of the 5 sections – viz., Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Language Comprehension, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, and Indian & Global Environment.
  • Exam Duration Timing for MAT will be of 2 hours & 30 minutes in duration. The paper-based test will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm., whereas the online mode of the exam will take place in multiple shifts.
  • Marking Scheme is each question carries 1 mark for right answer. For marking a wrong answer, ¼ marks would be deducted as a penalty.
  • There is no section-wise time limit and thus, you can move back and forth between sections.

TIPS to Crack MAT 2020

The MAT exam cut-off reaches the heights with 95% for top B schools, thus making it one of the most competitive exams for management studies. You need to prepare well and be thorough with the tiniest of detail to walk away with flying colors. A concrete plan, good strategy, concentrated mind and determination along with lots of practice can help you crack the exam.

Some general tips to crack MAT exam are as follows:

  • Stay updated with the current MAT 2020 syllabus.
  • Schedule your routine and follow it.
  • Practice makes a man perfect. Hence, practice as much as you can.
  • Solve previous years’ question papers and mock tests to be well-aware of the paper format.
  • Have a well-tested strategy to attempt the maximum number of questions in a minimum amount of time span, and with equal efficiency.
  • Attempt those questions first that fall under your area of expertise and you are 100% sure about them.
  • Refer to relevant and good books.
  • Do not get stuck to one question and invest all your valuable time on it. Skip and move.
  • Keep motivating yourself to do better than your practice sessions. Be confident in your approach, yet not overconfident.
  • Looking at previous year trends, it can be said that attempting questions of around 80 marks with 80% accuracy can fetch you a good rank. Therefore, you must, MUST have a good time management technique to complete your paper in time.
