National Seminar on “New India@75: Strategies for Transformation & Growth” at ABS Concludes on a High-Pitch of Knowledge!

Noida, 14th October 2019: The research and development cell at Delhi NCR-based Asian Business School – which is a part of Asian Education Group and is ranked as one of the best B-schools in Delhi NCR – hosted a high-pitched “NATIONAL SEMINAR” on the theme “NEW INDIA@75: STRATEGIES FOR TRANSFORMATION & GROWTH” on Saturday, 12th October 2019 at its Noida campus.  The eminent guests and speakers at the seminar included Mr. Vinit Goenka, Member-Governing Council-CRIS, Ministry of Railways, Govt of India; Mr. Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director & Chairman of the Board heading C-DOT; and Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI).

The backdrop to this Seminar was provided by the well-known fact that India is poised to become the youngest nation in the world by 2020 with 50% of its population below the age of 29 and India’s young population will have to play a crucial role in making India the next superpower, and the NITI Aayog’s recently released comprehensive national Strategy for New India which defines clear objectives to accelerate economic growth to 9-10% and make the country a $4-trillion economy by 2022-23. To realize this objective, a comprehensive Strategy needs to be devised to further improve the business environment in which private investors and other stakeholders can contribute their fullest towards achieving the goals set out for New India.

The event kick-started with lighting of lamp and welcome introduction of dignitaries present on and off the dais. Dr. Anubhuti Dwivedi, Associate Dean-Asian Business School welcomed the dignitaries with her welcome address and also set the theme of the Seminar with a brief introduction of the topic. This was followed by the inaugural address by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President-Asian Education Group.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Marwah quoted Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and stressed upon the need for students to “Be the change that one wishes to see in the world.”

Delivering his opening address, Mr. Vinit Goenka, Member-Governing Council-CRIS, Ministry of Railways, Govt of India, pitched for a strong New India @75 and quoted the scriptures that declare that “even God dislikes those who are meek and weak”.

Mr. Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director & Chairman of the Board heading C-DOT who spoke next said that “India always had a rich civilization ahead of everywhere around, but we were always exploited until our Independence in 1947.” He further said that “New India @75 must pledge that we will not get exploited in the name of collaboration, new technology, and global progress.”

This was followed by the address of Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI). He spoke on the topic “Business Sustainability in Digital Era: Harnessing The Power of Youth.” He spoke at length about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by his organization UN Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) and how India was benefitting out of this initiative

After the keynote addresses by distinguished speakers, as a token of appreciation and gratitude, the guests were felicitated with Mementos by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President-Asian Education Group. The proceedings were followed by a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Ravi Sharma, Assistant Dean-Corporate Resource Cell (CRC), Asian Education Group.

The august gathering then dispersed for lunch.

The post-lunch session saw the unfolding of “Parallel Technical Sessions” on the submitted research papers on topics related to the four main themes of the Seminar – namely, Marketing, Information Technology (IT), Human Resources & General Management, and Finance & Economics.

The Marketing Session was chaired by Dr. Naushadul Haque Mullick, Professor-Centre for Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia; the IT Session was chaired by Prof.A.K. Saini, Chairman-IIQAC & NAAC and Convenor-Career Guidance & Placement Cell, IP University; the HR & Gen. Management Session was chaired by Dr. Pooja Lakhanpal, Associate Professor-Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT); and the Finance & Economics Session was chaired by Dr. Bijaya Thakur, Assistant Professor-Delhi College of Arts & Commerce.

A total of 36 Presentations were made at this Seminar, out of which, “Best Paper Awards” were shortlisted in two categories – namely, ‘General’ and ‘Student Category’.

In the ‘General’ category, the honors were shared by Mr. Kush Kalra (Research Scholar, Sharda University), Mr. Harshit Bhatia, and Mr. Anand Awasthi (DME Law School) for their Paper titled, ‘Role and Contribution of Corporates in Sustainable Development in India’.

In the ‘Student Category’, the credits were shared by Ms Shruti Singhla and Ms Diksha Agnihotri (PG III) for their Paper titled, ‘Gauging The Efficiency of Series of State-Run Bank Mergers In India: A Basel III Approach’.

This was followed by a quick Summarization of the Day by Dr. Resham Sundrani, Member-R & D Cell, Asian Business School (ABS).

Then followed the much-awaited Awards & Prize Distribution ceremony wherein the prizes were given by Session Chairs & Dr. Anubhuti Dwivedi, Chairperson-R & D Cell and Professor & Associate Dean Asian Business School.

The event concluded with the customary Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Veenu Arora, Member-R & D Cell, Asian Business School (ABS).
