HR Conclave at Asian Business School

Asian Business School, Noida at Marwah Studios hosted HR Conclave on 13th August, 2010, topic of discussion being “Judicious Approach on Job Placement – Unveiling Reality.”Placements form an integral part of management studies. The formal bodies on placements, across management institutes, make conscious attempt to bridge the gap between student’s aspirations and corporate expectations. Still, at times void remains. Hence, targeting fresh job aspirants of management institutes, ABS made an endeavor to organize a one day conclave, where HR professionals carried out candid and constructive deliberations and transform student’s orientation from myth to reality in job placements. The event started at 11:00 am with Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director, ABS, formally inaugurated the conclave by expressing, “I’m glad to see a blend of varied experts on one platform”. He ended his speech by stating, “There is no shortage of work but right kind people to work”.

The conclave had the benign presence of elite panelist’s from industry and academics namely Dr. Sri Prakesh (Academic) and Gen. H.N. Hoon on the senior panel followed by Mr. Mukesh Batra (Spice),
Mrs. Ranjana Mittal (NTPC), Mr. Sameer Mukherjee (T Series), Ms. Anupam Luthra (HR Today), Dr. Sanjeev Prashar (Academic), Ms. Neeru Chaudhary (Academic), Mr. Navneet Chandra (Leadership
Trainer), Neelam Chaddha (Corporate Trainer), Ms. Kavri Mishra (Times Job) and many more on the discussion panel.

The conclave was designed to address the ten point agenda , engulfing various aspects of job placements some of them being gap analysis , pre and post interview preparations , personality aspects, resume,
salary negotiation, stress management etc.

Ms. Neeru Chaudhary, identifying gap analysis, stated, “faculty exchange program, summer training, guest lecture all are delivered well to students but retaining and implementation is not done well by students”. Extending her views on the topic Dr. Ranjana Mittal stated, “There is a gap between knowledge and implementation”. Expressing views on right kind of resume, Ms. Kaveri Mishra said, “resume is not the only reflection of you but your ethics as well” .To this Mr. Navneet Chandra gave an insight, “In India companies dislike spending on training, they need readymade skills, so institutes need to give the skills…” Ms. Chaudhary suggested that one’s resume should be based on the SWOT analysis.

Discussing on Salary and Negotiation, Dr. Sri Prakash said that good job is all about salary, profile and company. Mr.Chandra advised the students, “First two years are the crucial years with the company hence
one should focus more on learning than on salary.” The panelists emphasized that appearance is important but positive and open to learning attitude is more important, and students should be their natural self as
overdo might leave a negative impression on the recruiters.

Mrs. Latika Sahini, Dean ABS, took the discussion further by quoting, “Students need to have mental, emotional and psychological sync, while facing the interview”. Dr. Mittal delved about how to handle
stress while facing interview. Some measures stated by her were being realistic, take projects of interest, develop interpersonal skill, get adaptable and be more acceptable.

The conclave ended with an insightful and meaningful discussion between the students and discussion panel members with some intriguing questions from the students, and finally making them form a judicious approach towards placements.

HR Today was the media partner for the event.

All the institutions working under Marwah Studios Creative Enterprises including AAFT Asian Academy of Film And Television, ABS Asian Business School, ASMS Asian School Of Media Studies, ASGA Asian School Of Graphics and Animation and ASPA Asian School of Performing Arts have joined hands with the working committee for providing Media Volunteers to the forthcoming Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi.

“We are not only excited but feeling proud to be associated with the Games. We will be part of the history which is going to take place in Delhi from 3rdth Oct to 14th Oct. 2010” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios.

The special training has been organized for the 100 media students by the organizing committee of Commonwealth Games so that they can assist and help all the foreign media teams arriving from different countries of the world to cover this mega event in New Delhi.

The Queen’s Baton Relay 2010 Delhi is the unifying force for all irrespective of caste and creed repeated Upasna Singhal, Director RHB Relations broadcasting of Broadcasting Committee CWG. Friendship through sports is the theme of baton’s arrival at Wagah Border. The baton will unite the whole country as it will pass through 28 states and 7 union territories of the country.

Sandeep Marwah has nominated R.K.Singh the former Engineer in Chief Doordarshan and Dean Asian School of Media Studies as Vice President, Organizing Committee, Commonwealth Games, Delhi 2010 of Marwah studios.

The fresher’s party which was long due was hosted by seniors for Jan 2010 batch. It was a gala evening with the theme of ‘GOOD Vs EVIL’. The aim was to propagate that though the evil may seem to be powerful but at the end “GOODNESS WINS”.

The program was a flux of drama, dance, fashion show, musical games and the DJ Dancing. The highlight of the program was the presence of alumni’s of Asian Business School. Abshishek Anand was selected as ‘Mr. Fresher’ and Vidushi Chadha was popularly declared as ‘Miss. Fresher’.

The Director Mr. Sandeep Marwah became nostalgic about the establishment of Asian Business School and he desired it to be country’s best Management Institute. Dean Mrs. Latika Sahni thanked the students for their contribution in building the institute and addressed students as the heart of the institute. She also propagated that all students should contribute to the society through their good deeds. The evening was marked by fun and frolic.

Asian Business School (ABS) with its students specializing in Media Management had a wonderful interaction program with the renowned and veteran journalist and now group editor of Sahara Dr. Aziz Burney.

Explaining the difficulties and fun in establishing and managing a News Paper Office Aziz Burey explained the students of business administration the different carrier opportunities they can have after passing out from the college in this field.

The expected CAGR of 12 per cent is a result of the increasing rate of literacy. In 2010, the print media is expected to reach Rs 19,500 crore from its present value of Rs 10,900 crore”

.Later Marwah presented a copy of new Coffee Table book on Amitabh Bachchan to Burney published by the Documentation department of International Film And Television Research Centre .The event was supported by Radio Noida 107.4FM and International Public Broadcasting Forum.

International Recreation Parks Pvt.Ltd.(IRPPL) visited the campus of Asian Business School, Film City Noida on 14th of May 2010 to recruit management students for summer internship and final placement.

11 Students selected for internship for marketing and 3 students for PR and Advertising.

To enhance the quest of knowledge and industry interface for the students, ABS had organized a Seminar on “Consumer Behavior” with an impetus on analyzing vivid facets of it. The seminar was enlightened by the presence of eminent speakers.

Mr. Mahesh Prasad, Former secretary [Ministry of television and broadcasting], President Sahara Television was the ‘Chief Guest’ of Inaugural function. He encouraged the students with his positiveness towards life. Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director ABS, imparted his wisdom to the students and ask them to be passionate to do their work diligently and with full conviction. He also propagated ‘to do all their work, themselves’. Mrs. Latika Sahni, Dean ABS spoke about the success of ABS and stated that working together in unison and harmony was a reason for the success of ABS. The’ guest of honor,’ for the inaugural were Mr. Sanjeev Sarivastva- Managing Director, Assotech Limited, Mr. R. K. Guptan- Former Director, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India ,Mr. M. Chandrasekaran- Sr. Vice President – HCL Infosystems – OA Division. Each one of them shared their experiences and gave a word of advice on how students can survive in this competitive world.

The seminar was divided into two sessions. The speakers for the sessions were Mr. Kartik Raina-Ex. CEO of Dabur, Dr. Sanjeev Prashar- Consultant, Mr.Vivek Kumar- MD- Images Group, Ms. Benu Sehgal-Vice President Operations of IRPPL. At IRPPL- The Great India Place mall, Dr. Amit Pareenja- National Head Vodafone, and Commander V.K. Jaitly- President- AstroWix,.

Through this seminar, an endeavor was being made to unravel the mysteries of Consumer Behavior. Various aspects related to consumer satisfaction, motivation, perception, learning, attitude formation and decision making were discussed. The shift or dwindling consumer behavior in all fields were discussed – from organized retail to e-marketing was covered by the eminent speakers.

The students were spirited, enthusiastic and very participative which made the seminar a huge success.

To uplift the retail knowledge of the students and make them aware of luxury mall functioning, a visit to DLF Emporio was organized on 13th March 2010. The students where supposed to study about the brands & the designers of the high end products.

To enhance the economic knowledge and awareness of the students and to make them abreast of the present financial situation, ABS organized a debate on budget, called “Budget Blues” for the first semester students of the MBA course.

The class was divided in two teams ‘For’ the motion (Panther) and ‘Against’ the motion (Daredevil. The Daredevils drew attention to the benefits of the Income Tax Slab. On the other hand, the Panthers emphasized the pressures created by price hike and its impact on the common man’s household budget.

The students displayed a deep understanding of the issue at hand and were vociferous in voicing their opinions. It was a comprehensive exercise in every way and the students emerged more knowledgeable and better informed at the end of it.

1st February 2010, was marked as the orientation day of ABS January 2010 batch. It was the commencement of 15 days orientation program, which is the “Management Development Program”. It is the blend of students who management and industry and also developing their management skills and personality enhancement.

The program was initiated by the ‘pepping ceremony’ of the junior by their seniors. They were then handed over the folder which included all the amenities required for the orientation in the campus and surrounding.

The program was formally inaugurated by the Director Asian Business School

Mr. Sandeep Marwah, he inspired students by his motivation speech and emphasized that each student should move in his life removing all the hindrances emerge as winners.

Dean ABS spoke about development and growth of students into professional and creative leaders and encourage them to take social responsibility post her address the course coordinator introduced the faculty member of Asian Business School. Every faculty spoke on the different aspects which will be required to become a successful manger.

They were acquainted by the prevailing systems in ABS emphasis was made on the aspects like hard work, passion and perseverance, commitment adopting all human values to be a good human being and the 20 qualities which an ABSian needs to acquire during his stay at ABS.

Students enjoyed some ice breaking exercises during their refreshment. The entire program left a mark on the lives of the new students.

To understand the practical aspect of the classroom teaching , students of 3rd semester of different streams were sent for internship in the best of corporate and public sector undertakings.

The Red Carpet became the centre of attraction on the opening of 2nd Global Festival of Documentary films at Film City Noida organized by International Film And Television Club under the president ship of Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Studios a renowned Media, Film and TV personality of this part of the World.

“I have always believe in promoting young and talented film makers by creating an opportunity for them in this beautiful trade” said Sandeep Marwah to the international press gathered along with film makers, participants, who”s who of entertainment industry, film and TV students from all over the World.

A formal inauguration took place by lighting the lamp by the renowned, veteran writer, producer and Director Basu Chatterjee along with film director Pankaj Parashar, Manoj Pahwa the famous actor ,Tarry Parrish of Ice Academy, U.K, film maker Shekh Nasir with Suman Bajaj Kalra festival Director and President of the festival Sandeep Marwah.

The festival started with the scheduled program of screening films in three theatres for the first hour followed by huge list of films to follow. “Not much festivals in India promoting documentaries, this festival is the real breathing to the documentary film makers and that too at this scale” said Basu Chatterjee. “I believe in the management of IFTC. This time Global has touched the documentaries, other wise there are no supporters other than government.” said Pankaj Parashar. “I have come all the way from UK to support Sandeep for his venture we need promoters and people with innovative ideas” said Terry Parrish.

The festival is supported by Asian Academy of Film and TV, Asian School of Media Studies, Asian Business School, AAFT School of Graphics and Animation, International Film And Television Research Centre, Radio Noida 107.4FM.and others.

On 31st October 2009, the Asian Business School, Noida hosted the Convocation Ceremony for the batch 2009. The ceremony marked the ending of an epoch as the students ere prepared to enter the corporate world.

Te morning was marked with excited faces of the students who come to celebrate the occasion. The function began with the welcome speech of Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director ABS.

He welcomed the guests Mr. M.S. Kapur Former Chairman and Managing Director, Vijaya Bank, Mukesh Tyagi, Renowned Film Artist & Industrialist, Anoop Murari, Director, AJM Financial Services Pvt. This was followed by the ceremony of lighting the lamp and Garlanding of the Lord Ganesha by our esteemed guests.

The stage was commanded by Prof. Sandeep Marwah who reminded the students to hold the head high and be proud to be alumni of Asian Business School. His speech was extremely motivating and inspiring. Dean Mrs. Latika Sahni also welcomes the guests, giving the brief growth and achievement of ABS. She also gave few words of wisdom the passing out students Mr. M.S. The sixteen years old institution running under the banner of International Film And Television Club headed by Sandeep Marwah the renowned media personality now is open to the students of Asian Business School, Noida informed Latika Sahani the dean of ABS.

The International Film And Television Club had been framed for the promotion of good films and television programs through screenings retrospectives, seminars and symposia and to create interaction and development of contacts between film makers and television professionals both nationally & internationally. It also includes the circulation and exchange of films and television programs at National and International level including film and television professional. The pupose also contains the advancement of Film and Television productions.

A separate wing has been specially organized by Prof. Harshvardhan Vice President IFTC for the students of Asian Business School [ABS].Students can also represent IFTC in the States and Districts for the promotion of film and TV activities in their areas to be supported and finance by the Club.The decision has been jointly taken by Sandeep Marwah and the board of IFTC.

An exhibition of colorful paintings by Neema lal was jointly inaugurated by Jaganath, the former Secretary of Home Affairs, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Vikas Garg renowned business man and the film producer at Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida.

“Paintings are like poetry which you have to write with colors and it expresses all your emotions on canvas,” said Jaganath while releasing the brochure. Neema Lal has worked with Artists from Denmark for a period of five years before joining Treveni Kala Sangam. "I extend my heartiest congratulation to Neema for opting Marwah Studios for her solo show within Media students, she is very expressive in her work” said Vikas Garg.

“My journey from cotemporary to abstract helped me to make layers in paintings which help to have perspective effects, but this is not sufficient I would like to increase the number of layers to give more 3D effects.” Said Neema Lal while explaining her paintings to the students of Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) “I want to incorporate in my paintings new trends and recent techniques of other countries along which my own technique to give a much broader and wider look to my creations. The world should know that new chapter has been added in the field of art.” added Neema Lal.

“I am thankful to Neema Lal for accepting my invitation to be part of International Film and Television Club” said Sandeep Marwah while handingover life membership of IFTC to Neema. "We at AAFT want to promote all sort of Arts be it is films, Paintings, Dance, Drama, Writing or any other" added Marwah.

The renowned asian media personality, president of Marwah Studios Sandeep Marwah and well known international Indian star Anil Kapoor were recently invited by H.E. Dr Mohamed Higazy, the Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt in India to discuss the cultural exchange between two oldest civilizations of Earth.

“We are keen in developing and promoting cultures of India and Egypt where country men of both the countries can relate to each other comfortably” said H.E. Dr. Mohamed Higazy. “We want to open the doors of our country for Indian Art and Culture too.” He added.

“Films are the best Ambassador of culture of the country” said Sandeep Marwah the founder of film city and Director of AAFT. “Exchange of films, film festivals, and film personalities can bring in ample change in thinking and relation between two countries” added Marwah.

“I would love to be there at Egypt to represent my country India, and can do anything to built the relations between these two countries” said Anil Kapoor, who has become well known star internationally after the release of feature film Slum dog Millionaire which has bagged many awards including Oscars.

Sam Salem, the minister Counselor and Ms Dina el Sehy the counselor of Egyptian Embassy were also present there in the meeting.

Indo American Chamber Of Commerce joined hands with the American delegation to India consisting of 17 members under the leadership of Secretary of the state Sam Reed 14th Secretary of State of Washington and the mission manager Andreas Udbye. The members of the delegation were here in India to participate in conference and to develop business relationship with Indian parties under trade and cultural mission to India.

“We are very keen in developing relations with American Business People, as I feel we can still learn more when it comes to Films and Marketing the products” said Sandeep Marwah president of Marwah Studios and Director of Asian Business School, Noida.

Atul Vyas the secretary General of IACC recommended Alferd G Schweppe, an attorney at law from Washington who represented the delegation at Noida. “I am very keen in Indian Film and TV industry and would love to represent Marwah Studios, a creative Enterprises in USA for any kind of job which I can handle” said Alferd.

“I am already a member of the council of AAFT, for me its like coming home” said Sajid khan of Sajid Wajid fame, the music directors of the film who were accompanied by the Director Prabhudeva the renowned Dance Director who did not directed any of the dances rather passed on the job to Vaibhavi Merchant.”I wanted to concentrate on direction this time for my debut in Bollywood, no doubt Dancing is my first love” Prabhu added. He is now the most wanted director.

After being part of the creative team in superhit films like Satya, Jhankar Beats and Masti, cinematographer Mazhar Kamran is now ready to release his directorial debut titled’ Mohan Das’ informed Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios while welcoming the team of feature film Mohandas at AAFT and ASMS at Noida Film City. Talking to the students of Asian Academy Of Film And Television and Asian School Of Media Studies the Director of the film Mazhar Kamran declared that “unlike its resemblance to the name Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, the film is a black comedy and derives zero similarity from the patriot.

The film is made on a small scale with talented actors like Sonali Kulkarni, Nakul Vaid, Sushant Singh, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Uttam Haldar, Aditya Shrivastav, Akhilendra Mishra and Govind Namdeo who all were present there to interact with the media students.

Sandeep Marwah also informed that the film is made under the banner of Vertika Films Pvt Ltd. and is produced by Abha Sonakia.
