Parallel to Academic life at ABS runs the foot stamping rhythm of the student’s social life. Singularly active, students associations and clubs provide a forum for interaction amongst themselves and the world outside. Media Club is an organization for students interested in media and entertainment industry and showcasing the creative talent and artistic diversity within the ABS Community. Students of ABS organized ”MEDIA – THE BUZZ” on Saturday 22.11.12 which was hosted by Mr.Rritwik Shalabh, student, ABS.

Media Club engages students who exhibit interest in Media Industry. Media is very important part of students’ lives. They spend lot of their time consuming media messages. They watch TV, surf internet, listen to the radio, read newspaper and also take pride in owning a sophisticated toy called Mobile phone which gives them an opportunity to do all these activities when they are on move. Media has penetrated deep into their lives and hence has enormous power to reconstruct the way they look at the world, to shape their opinion, and redefine their values. Keeping this in view; Media Club of Management students of Asian Business School organised the event “THE BUZZ” on Saturday , Nov.24,’12 in the campus. The basic idea is to provide students with an opportunity to develop life skills

which will enable them to analyze these forms of modern communication and help them in their journey to Corporate World.

The objective of the activity was to io develop among students an understanding of the effects of mass media on themselves as individuals and also upon society and how the media influence our understanding of reality, to develop skills to deconstruct media messages by making them understand the constructed nature of media, to develop skills to encourage the production of creative media messages and to encourage students to express their feelings and thoughts through media messages they produce

The activities under the Media Club on Saturday Nov.24,’12 were Presentation – Changing Face of Media by Rriftwik Shalabh, Ad-Mad Show: where different topics for given to students like Camera, TV Channel, Unemployment to show their creativity (Winner–Unemployment Team), Think 360 degree – Quiz on Media (Print, electronic, social media and so on) and a play – Impact of Media on Society.
